We are a non-profit organizations with charity activities around Zimbabwe targeting female prisoners for a better life.
About Us
FEMPRIST seeks to support women in and out of prison by:
- Equipping them with various skills in economic empowermnet
- offering psycho-social support through counselling sessions, peer to peer support groups, victim and offender dialogue.
Female Prisoners Support Trust (FEMPRIST) has been founded in order to lobby and advocate for equal opportunities for women in prisons and those who have finished serving their sentences.
It was formed as a response to a number of gaps in the approach of civil society organizations working on women’s rights issues. This has been left solely to families and a few mainstream organizations and churches who offer psychosocial support and legal advice hence the need to go further and interrogate the needs of the women thereafter.
FEMPRIST work is premised around the 4R’s: Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, Reintegration, Restoration.
OUR ServiceS
Our services or programs and projects hinge on these 4R's, which pillars of our programming namely: Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, Reintergration and Restoration.

Our Core Values
Our Causes
Femprist enables female inmates and ex-inmates be empowered to overcome challenges they face or have faced economically both in and/or after imprisonment
ADVOCATING FOR A NEW START
We provide hope for a new start which enables female ex-inmates to be the implementers and custodians of the project since they have lived experiences of the challenges they face or have faced economically after imprisonment. Through this project FEMPRIST has helped female ex-inmates to re-integrate back into the society economically through the Income Sustainable and Livelihoods Projects (ISALs).
Furthermore, the ISALs project technically advises inmates on how to run income generating project within the communities they return to after incarceration. The skills include hairdressing, chicken farming, dressmaking and market gardening. In some cases, we encourage these women to form clubs based on location, nature of business and mutual understanding.
ANOTHER CHANCE
Another Chance enables female ex-inmates to be the implementers and custodians of the project since they have lived experiences of the challenges they face or have faced economically after imprisonment. Through this project FEMPRIST has helped female ex-inmates to re-integrate back into the society economically through the Income Sustainable and Livelihoods Projects (ISALs).
ISALs project taps on the skills learnt by female ex-inmates whilst they were still in prison by equipping them. Furthermore, the ISALs project technically advises inmates on how to run income generating project within the communities they return to after incarceration. The skills include hairdressing, chicken farming, dressmaking and market gardening. In some cases, we encourage these women to form clubs based on location, nature of business and mutual understanding.
GIVING HOPE BY EMPOWERING
By empowering the inmates and ex-inmates, we create a room for them to be able to stand any changes in the economy after serving their time. Our programs make them get skills that later breed income for their lives so that they don't suffer economic blows or end up committing the same crimes again.
All our programs are proudly sponsored by our donors who make sure we have adequate supply of all the resources. In other empowerment programs we give resources to the personnels present that can be their capital to kick start their projects. We have a notable number of persons already progressing well with agricultural projects. These individuals are already making a living after our empowerment programs.
Upcoming Events
COMMEMORATION OF EVENTS/DAYS.
01 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN's DAY
We have a number of scheduled prison visits across the country for this year. In these visits we get to see inmates, talk to them and share experiences with them. Some relate with us and commence our projects.
02 MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY
This year we plan to double our sanitary distribution to prisons across the nation thus we have a number of planned events for the distributions. This is one or the most important aids as it affects women largely.
03 16 days of activism against gbv
There are some projects that are coming that require more labor. On these we train volunteers who will do certain tasks. More and more volunteers are required always for some big programs.
04 PRISON & COMMUNITY VISITS
We plan to host a number of workshops this year as we have increased our targets to double for the ladies we want to empower. We shall have the workshops both in rural and urban areas.

Empowerment to every FEMALE
As we raise the funds to do more and more activities under our mission we are rallying for every female prisoner to be empowered. These individuals are prone to repeating same mistakes after their jail time in the event that society doesn't accept them well. Hence our empowerment programs will curb every challenge and give them hope and a sense of belonging to society once again.
Helped People
Many women have been helped by our initiatives. these individuals have their lives transformed without a doubt, and they are living normal lives in society. Below are some but only a few of them.
I was a convict and never thought l would get another chance in society. But today l have a different story than l expected.
